9月11日中午，我们迎来了波士顿大学（Boston University）招生官Samantha Fifield女士，高二及部分高三同学和升学指导老师们一起参加了此次招生官见面会。
The workshop from BU was definitely a nice experience for a senior student. Being admitted by BU is hard, but preparing more materials than other applicants may ease the difficulty for us. For instance, although SAT Subject Test is not required by BU, the admission officer implied that the students with the matching SAT Subject Test scores are more likely to be accepted by the university. Thus, our senior students must be well prepared in every aspect during this application season.

I have got lots of information about BU through this indelible experience. Firstly, I was familiar with the application process. BU has three admission types, including Early Decision 1, Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision. The admission officer was so passionate and she provided us with plentiful information about this university. She was also willing to answer the questions raised by students. BU contains various majors that offer many opportunities for students to choose. Students can change their majors freely as well. I like this university because it has my preferred major-- Mathematical Economics. Many universities don’t actually offer this major to undergraduate students. BU is located in urban area. Thus, it is convenient for students to go shopping or hang out with their friends. Meanwhile, there are more entertainment activities in urban area than universities in rural areas.Hence, students can have joyful lives in Boston University.

Having a chance to attend the college visit is jaunty. In the very beginning, the advisor just introduces her to us about her academic life in Boston University and the overview of campus’ infrastructure. The geological location and climate in Boston actually fits my taste for the place where I would probably choose to live and study. The video made by schools completely reveals which kind of students should study there.During the Q&A section, seniors have pointed out doubts that deserve careful thinking. One of the essential questions is about the food and housing management in universities because they are the place where you are going to live for at least 4 years. Environment should be taken into account when choosing the dream school. Another suggestion about going to a college visit is to do some research before so that the question asked will be much worthier.Universities contain more than one school to apply for, so it is important to choose which field you like to focus on and participate in relative activities.Universities in America such as BU all offer a large amount of majors and opportunities to transfer, which is beneficial for students who haven’t decided their career goal yet.
Today’s speech given by the AO from Boston University is probably one of the best speeches that I have ever heard of. It contains useful information about applying BU, like the questions for the supplemental essay and the standard we must have in order to fit its requirements. On the other hand, she also introduced the schools and campus life in BU, like its Liberal Arts School, activities, and community works. This kind of college visit is awesome for our Grade 11 students as we can get to know more about U.S. higher education and be encouraged to study harder to achieve our goals.
